Three Tips for Keeping Contact Lenses Intact While Traveling

Posted by Optipak_Admin | July 07, 2015

If you are traveling with your contacts then you may be wondering how you can keep them safe. It can be difficult to travel with your lenses and it is essential that you pack them properly and ensure that they are not getting too dried out throughout your trip. Below, we will go over some tips to help you keep your contacts intact no matter when and where you travel.
Keep Eye Drops on You
Typically, the airport will allow you to keep a small amount of liquid on your person while you are flying. You will need to find out the specific amount that you are allowed to carry with you and then do it. You should always have eye solution or eye drops on your person in case your contact lenses become dry or if you lose one. Make sure to have the eye drops or eye solution in your pocket or purse so that you can access it easily should something happen and you need it.
Keep Your Contacts in Your Carry On
You should always keep your contacts in your carry-on bag as they will stay cool and hydrated. If you place your contacts in your luggage and it goes underneath the plane, it may become too hot and your contacts may not survive the entire trip. You do not want to wind up with dried out lenses so make sure that you keep your current pair and any additional pairs in your carry on. You will also be able to access them much more easily should you need to.
Take Additional Pairs
Never travel with just one pair of contacts as you may wind up with a damaged pair. If you can, travel with contact lenses that are in their original sealed, sterile packaging as they will be much safer here than in a contact case. If you do need to take contacts in your contact case, make sure the case stays upright and does not shift around throughout your travels.
If you are planning on traveling with contacts, make sure that you are prepared. If you are not ensuring that your contact lenses are safe throughout your trip, you will find that when you arrive at your destination you need to find new contacts. Use the tips above and your contact will be maintained throughout your travels anywhere.
